Artist Statement

As a choreographer I often use dance as a way to process uncomfortable facts of human existence. I'm interested in existential narratives as they relate to our relationship to others, self, and death, as animals, thinkers, and sufferers. Physically I am interested in the intersection of experimental movement and narrative structures. I am fascinated by the way bodies physically clash on stage, gestural partner work, the distortion of humanness, and world building. Although my work can be nihilistic in nature I hope to cultivate a sense of understanding of the human condition and find something positive within that understanding.
